Renous Quarryville Fire Department

First Responders EV Showcase

On Wednesday March 18th VeNBev held a First Responders EV Showcase at the Renous/Quarryville Fire Department.

The first responders had all completed online EV first responder training but wanted an opportunity to see some EVs up close to get more familiar with them.

We were able to take a few components off the cars to show the location of High Voltage disconnects, first responder loops, Battery location, lift points etc.

Using a combination of the First Responder Guides that are available for every EV model and the ANCAP Rescue app, the first responders were able to become more familiar with EVs before an incident occurs.

Our volunteers and the first responders learned a lot from each other about EVs. We were able to answer questions and have some great discussions about EVs in general with the first responders.

We, as EV owners, learned a lot about the intricacies of responding safely to an emergency involving fire, passenger entrapment, or submersion.

This was a great example of how you don’t know what you don’t know until you speak to others who can share a completely different prospective. Overall, the night was a great success.

Thanks very much to the EV owners who agreed to bring out their cars and a big thanks to the Renous Quarryville Fire Department for inviting us.
